Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is an overarching term for a feature of Microsoft Windows Servers that provides users with remote access to graphical desktops and Windows applications. RDS connects to PCs on the company network from a remote location.
Remote Desktop Services is the new name for the old Terminal Services – with additional roles and functions for virtual desktops.
RDS are controlled by access rights – so-called CAL licensing. This includes the following elements:
Windows Server CAL
Remote Desktop Services CAL
The latter differs in User CALs and Device CALs.
On the Windows server used for RDS access, a license server role must be defined. Applied server downgrade rights are automatically transferred to the license server role and define the required CALs.
VENDOSOFT offers access rights to Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) as used volume licenses with an RDS key.
