There are also some minor differences between the versions of the operating system, for example:
Windows Server 2022 includes new features that are not available in Windows Server 2016 and 2019:
- Support for running Windows containers inside Linux VMs.
- Support for Azure Arc, a technology that allows you to manage and protect Windows Server instances in on-premises data centres as if they were running in Azure.
- Support for running Windows Server applications on Azure.
- Support for running Windows containers on Linux VMs in Windows Server 2022
At the same time, some features available in Windows Server 2016 and 2019 have been removed:
- Support for running Windows Server 2008 applications.
- Support for using IPv4 tunnels for IPv6.
- Support for running Windows Server applications in virtual machines with less than 4 GB RAM.
Windows Server 2022 Editions
